Years ago, one of my first, significant, furniture purchases was a Mies Van Der Rohe Barcelona chair in camel. I spied it in the window of an antiques shop on Bowery and bought it right then and there. When my girls were small I covered the insanely sharp corners with foam padding to spare them from beaning themselves. Then, during a moment of madness, I gave the chair to a friend at Harper’s Bazaar where it had been in my office.
The daybed reminds me of casting the Louis Vuitton shows with Marc Jacobs. We worked around the clock and would take turns napping on the Mies Van Der Rohe daybeds in the LV showroom. I’ve never slept as soundly.
