I’ve had renting on the brain. After we moved our daughter into her first apartment in Brooklyn, I stumbled across “11 Tips to Make Your Rental Feel Like You Own It” on Domino by my friend Louise Denny, a founder of the brand and content consultancy, Tomorrows. I’ve, also, been quizzing Kathy Leeds on what she took to her rental apartment while her home is being renovated.
Kathy’s rental is furnished so she brought “touches of home”—family photos, books, her own linens and pillows, toys for the grandchildren, favorite cast iron pans, coffee maker and canisters, a beloved cherrywood salad bowl from Vermont, and a piece of folk art – a 150 year old swan decoy. She also built a portable painting studio from cardboard boxes, which I think is brilliant.
