Maybe it’s because I live near Sands Point that this story by Wendy Goodman in Elle Decor resonates. Ms. Goodman recalls her childhood summers spent next door to the Harriman house — it’s a must-read.
These are wonderful illustrations. I would spend my summer in Kings Point, right next door at my cousins home on the Long Island Sound, feels so familiar! Wendy is an amazing story teller. Great post!
Such a fantastic recollection…I could picture the whole thing in my mind…a wonderful story. Thanks for sharing!
Delightful story! Thank you.
Love this story, and the beautiful illustrations. Aren’t they evocative of the Stettheimer sisters? Beautifully whimsical. So sweet.

I really enjoyed reading this story in the print issue – just found it so strange that Goodman said ‘no photos remain’ how and why?
